ELLEN WHITESIDE

Goddess of the Grove

Ellen’s life has been guided by a deep commitment to service and a genuine desire to uplift others. As the steward of Sacred Grove Retreat Center since 2006, she’s poured her heart and soul into sharing Sacred Grove’s magic with everyone who steps onto the land. As hostess, Ellen’s presence is warm and unmistakable; guests have called her the “Goddess of the Grove,” a playful and cherished title she wears with love. Her “superpower” is making all who visit feel welcomed, seen, and part of something special.

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, her early path was marked by curiosity and adventure. After graduating from Clemson University, her wanderlust took her first to Washington, DC and then across Europe with just a backpack and an open heart. Returning to the States, Portland, Oregon beckoned her spirit—and she spent 22 years there primarily as a licensed massage therapist, supporting others’ well-being and healing. In 2003, longing for more sunshine and drier weather, Ellen listened to her soul’s whisper and returned to the South.

A lifelong traveler, Ellen’s journeys include sacred time in Tibet, Nepal, China, and Thailand, and a deeply moving pilgrimage to India—where the spiritual heartbeat of Rishikesh and New Delhi left an indelible mark on her. Meeting people from all backgrounds continually reminds her of the universal threads of love, and connection.

After studying and practicing metaphysical and transformational principles for over 50 years, in 2022 she became a certified Dream Builder coach through the Brave Thinking Institute. Ellen now offers personalized retreat offerings that include coaching for personal transformation.

As of May 2025, Ellen has had the pleasure of hosting her own radio show, Mindset & Miracles on WDRBmedia.com. Tune in and listen live every Monday at 11am EST.

Ellen believes that true fulfillment comes from helping others heal, find clarity, and step into their brilliance. Ellen’s journey—from global adventures to deep inner work—has taught her that when we serve others with compassion and presence, we all rise together. At Sacred Grove and beyond, being of service is Ellen’s truest calling and greatest joy.
